Creating a record in Workflow form another application, then redirecting a user to the newly created record.

If you have created a record from your current record and wish to bring the user to that record, so as they can work on the newly created record. This is how this can be achieved.

Say for example, that you are in an Incident, and subsequently you create a Problem record from that Incident. You may have the following interaction node to do this.

This will work but the user will only see a short message appear to advise of the message. You could add a message that will popup by adding text to the last 2 lines here as shown below.

The message should look like this

The above method involves the user pressing the workflow button a few times and this can be cumbersome for many. If so, I recommend the following. At the point in the workflow where you ask if the user what action they wish to pursue. There will be a line extending from that selection. On that line create an action that will create the Problem.

Like this

The user will need to click Close / X / or hit the escape key to by pass this.

This will create the problem in the background.

In order to bring them to the newly created problem, add another Interaction node after the one above node or line with the Create Problem action.
The action will look something like this

This will bring the user into the newly created Problem.

NB: If you want them to follow a particular Problem workflow process, you can specify the process in the “Launch Process” in the node above and it will be kicked off once the problem has been created.

Thanks

Hi Poirier S.,

Can a user be switched over to the newly created record, when it has been created from a Select Action and not from work flow?

For example, if a user creates a Workorder from Asset application through the select action then the newly created workorder should be opened.

Thanks!

Hi Poirier S,

Can we redirect the user to newly created record, when the record is created through a Select Action?
For example, if a user creates a workorder from Asset application, can we redirect him to the newly created workorder?

Thanks!

Yes, you will need to use a set value action that will take the current ticket status and propagate it to the related tickets. Just place the action AFTER your status change in the workflow.

Here is a relationship that works

ONLYRELATEDRECORD.RELATEDRECTKT.status
